Integrated Information Literacy and Technology Benchmark Project

Lesson:

Certain sites are more appropriate than others for finding the information we want. Today we are going to use a gery good site for children's authors. We will learn how to correctly type in the address and how to find information on our author, Allen Say. We will also use our AlphaSmarts to take notes. Let's begin by correctly typing in a site address.

Work Period:

Day 2: Children work in groups of 2's or 3's- good readers, slower readers.Children type in the address and begin finding facts.

Day 3: Children type in address again (first review how to type in the address.) Children continue to find up to 10 facts about the author and his works.

Assessment:

Proficient - Students are able to find the site without help on the second day. Dtudents find and type 8-10 facts in the AlphaSmarts.

Partially Proficient - Students are able to find the site with little help on the second day. Students find and type 5-7 facts in AlphaSmarts.

Unsatisfactory - Students need much help in finding the web address. They find fewer than 5 facts.

Modifications/Extensions:

Extension of time, increase or decrease the number of facts found, repairing incompatible lab buddies.
